Fixed a start-up crash for CPUs that do not support AVX instructions

Hello fellow member, I see that you were helping out in addressing a guest who was asking if the latest patch for the game helped to fix the issue with AVX instructions for older CPUs.

I know that you were primarily focused on answering the question that the guest had asked, but I wanted to point out in case you or anyone else might not already be aware, that the latest 1.08 patch for Horizon: Zero Dawn brings a lot of crash fixes, as well as Audio, Performance, and Graphical improvements.

Those who are currently on the 1.07 patch, can simply install over it and apply the 1.08 patch. Then they can simply remove any leftover traces of the 1.07 patch by running the ‘junk_files_remover.bat’.

For Users / Gamers who are not already on the 1.07 patch, or don’t have this patch, you can simply install and apply the 1.08 patch, as no prior patch is necessary.

When applying the 1.08 patch for the game, Users should temporarily disable or turn off their Windows Defender or any Antivirus program that is running to ensure that these types of System Protection features do not flag the installation of the patch as a false positive.
If Users experience any further issues with trying to install or apply the patch to their game, they should make sure to check the Quarantine area of both Windows Defender or any Antivirus program they are using, and tell it to restore the files that were removed, back to it’s original location, and then set a rule to exclude the location or the files from being scanned.

Users also have a third option to boot their PCs into Safe Mode without Networking, and then install and apply the latest 1.08 patch to their game. Doing it this way will ensure that there are no background processes running that could flag, block, or otherwise interfere with the proper installation of the patch.
Once done, just Restart the PC and boot normally back into Windows, then run the game.

At this point, Users can turn their disabled Windows Defender or any Antivirus programs they may be running on their own Systems, back on again.

For further information about what’s included in the latest Patch Notes, Users can refer to the official Patch Notes for v1.08 from the Steam Database here:

Time to rollback i guess <.<

Since there is no installer for the v1.08 Patch from p2p, you will have to apply the patch manually. If you know how to do this, then it should not be an issue for you.

I have applied the v1.08 patch myself and have not encountered the loading screen issue that you have reported. My game runs fine without any issues.

If you are an existing Member, and are reading this, please sign in with your Member account, and I will help you with resolving the issue you have with applying patch v1.08 to your game.

You may or may not be aware of this, but you do not have to wait for the Shader Optimization to complete (although it is recommended for shorter loading screen times), you can just jump straight into the game from the last save point you made by going to Continue and launching your game.

Also, you always have the option of switching over to the DRM-Free GOG version of the game as well, but just keep in mind that you will need to make a backup of your game saves if you are using either the EPIC Store (CODEX) version, or the Steam (Goldberg Emu) version of the game. In addition to this you will need to know where to look for the game save folder location for the current version you are running, as well as be able to find the save game location for the GOG version, so you can transfer your game save over to it.

Guys there is no working download link, can someone share a link that works for v1.08?

You appear to be the same Guest as TINBIN who visited the site on November 26.
If you did not grab the patch version back in the month of November, and you claim that all available links for it are down or do not work, then you can make a request for a re-upload of it at the top of this very page for REQUESTS.

Just keep in mind that links will be checked by this site’s Admin, and that any links still found to be active will not be re-upped to. If there is any specific or existing link that you were trying to download from, make sure that it isn’t being blocked by your firewall or an adblocker, or that you have temporarily disabled your adblocker, or made an exception rule to permit some pops for some file hosts to permit a pop-up for download to appear to prompt you on where you would like to save the file you are about to download.

You also have the option of using the site’s search feature to find the GOG version which already has the v1.08 and hotfix applied to it, and is both DRM and Denuvo free, if you prefer to go with that version instead.

Does the game run smooth now? i remember it had a lot of optimization problems when it was released.

Since the release of patch v1.08, the game developers have provided support for Graphics Cards and GPUs that do not have the AVX / AVX 2 x86 architecture instruction sets.

Before the release of this patch, one of the major issues and concerns addressed by gamers to the game developers was the lack of support for non AVX / AVX 2 supported Graphics Cards and GPUs, and those that did not have these features on their own video graphic cards or GPUs would not be able to start the game.

In terms of the game running smoothly, that really depends on the makeup of your own peripheral hardware (what currently sits inside your own PC). The primary components of what you should be looking at is your CPU, GPU or Graphics Card, the current RAM (memory) installed, the VRAM (Video Ram of your own GPU or Graphics Card), and the size and available storage (Free space available) of your SSD or HDD, and compare that to the game’s own minimum system requirements for what is needed to have it run effectively enough on a PC System that matches or exceeds the hardware requirements listed there.

For me in terms of the game running smoothly and meeting the minimal requirements for what the game can run under, I can run it without any issues with the latest version 1.08 patch.
Of course, when you launch the game, Optimization of Shaders will kick in from the main game menu (and it is recommended to allow it to complete to 100 % to increase the load times in-game), however if you don’t want to wait for it, you can just jump straight into the game.

If you haven’t done so already, you should read one of my prior posts where I talk about the patch notes from the Steam Database for patch version 1.08 and what it includes. There is also a link there that I have included for it.
