Velimir has spent his life chasing the shadow of his father, desperate to
prove himself. But without an Animorph by his side, he's an outcast among
hunters. Until the chance to prove himself worthy arrives. Rodrik, his mentor
and guardian, delivers his first real assignment - a mission that will test
more than just his combat skills.
A girl named Malena has disappeared from the village of Stillwater, nestled
on the misty shores of the ominous Lake of Tears. The villagers whisper of
mermaids with cold, dead eyes, dragging their victims into the abyss...
Velimir and Rodrik begin their hunt, determined to solve the mystery and find
Malena. But beneath the lakes surface, something far more ancient - and far
