      @computeur,

      Why would you try to be launching the game with the GOG Games launcher 2.0?!
      My mind is completely puzzled now at your attempt to launch a GOG game that you got from this site using GOG Galaxy 2.0 Launcher.

      Of course it’s not going to work, and of course it’s going to fail on you, because the GOG Galaxy 2.0 Launcher is meant to be used for STORE BOUGHT GAMES FROM GOG.

      Did you try to make an attempt at running the setup for the game when you downloaded it from here?

      Here is what you should look for and click on to begin the setup of the game:
      setup_serious_sam_4_1.01_(64bit)_(41481).exe

      Run that, the actual game setup, and then select where you want to have the game installed to.

      Once that’s done, that’s all there is to it. Just launch the game from the shortcut on your Windows Desktop or from Windows Start Menu.

      How do you play cracked Steam games? Do you try to launch it through the Steam client, even though you haven’t officially bought the game, or do you use the supplied crack that came with the cracked Steam version of the game?

      What surprises me even more is how you are a Member here, and you can easily log in with your free Member account, yet you choose to post as a Guest. LOL.

      ERROR…. ERROR… DOES NOT COMPUTE!

    Don’t get me wrong, I love all the previous Serious Sam Games as they were a lot of fun to play, but this new Serious Sam 4 for Windows 10 only doesn’t make it any better.

    Just look at some of the negative reviews that this latest game in the series is getting on Steam, problems and issues galore.

    I don’t know why but when I try to install this game to my another hard drive (D:) which has enough space, it still occupies my main hard drive (C:) which doesn’t have enough space so it doesn’t work. Never experienced this before.

      @kof1981,

      Whenever you run the setup installer for a GOG game, the first thing you are going to see is the Language you want to select to use for the game, after that, you will see in the installer window how much space the game will take up on the default drive location (which will be the C:\ Drive). To change the location of where you want to install the game to, first you need to click on the bottom of the installer where it says: Yes, I have read and accept EULA.
      You need to click on the empty, square box in front of that license agreement message for the game, otherwise you will not be able to make any changes to the location of where you want to install the game to.
      Then, click on the Options button.
      In the next screen of the game installer, under Installation Options, you will see the name of the game, the size it will occupy on the drive, and you will have the option to create a desktop icon, and check the file integrity before installation.
      You do not need to check file integrity before installation, it is only there as an option.

      You need to make sure that the name of the game has a check mark in front of it in the square box, otherwise the setup installer will not know what it is installing. By default, this should already be checked for you, but if it isn’t, you will need to check it yourself.

      Now, look at the section where it says Install game to:
      If the drive that you want to install to isn’t shown within the box along with the name of the game, click on the Browse button, and then manually navigate to the drive and location of where you want the game to be installed to.

      You also need to make sure and confirm that the square box in front of the message that says: Yes, I have read and accept EULA is checked. Because if it isn’t the changes you want to make will not take effect. So make sure that you have that ticked, before you click on the Install button from the Installation Options screen.

      You can also change the Language here as well from the Installation Options screen if you want to.

      Now that you have set everything the way you want it, just click on install and let the process finish.

      Afterwards, the game should have installed to the correct drive and folder you told the setup installer to install the game to.

      I have done this method plenty of times with the GOG games that I have, and have never had an issue with installing to different drives, even to my external 5 TB drive which I use to launch and play most games from.

      If you happen to experience any installation issues after that, let me know, and I will help you out further. In the meantime it would help me if you could tell me whether the drive that you want to install to is either a HDD or a SSD drive, and whether that drive is an internal or external drive.
      Knowing this, would be both helpful and would assist me in further helping you out if you experience any further issues with installation.

          @kof1981,

          Thank you for providing the screenshot that you have taken of the installer which shows the drive that you are trying to install to. I noticed in your earlier post, you said that you were trying to install to your D: drive, but the screenshot that you took shows that you are installing to another drive letter which is U:

          I’m just wondering why you would not try to install to the D: drive again. Do you have more than the two drives that you mentioned in your earlier post? Is that why you are trying to install the game to another drive like U: ?

          I’m not sure if you are aware of this yourself, but I noticed in your screenshot that all the bin image files for the installer are associated as SNES9x Rom images and are not properly listed as bin Disc Image files, which they should be listed as.
          You will need to change that, and I can tell you here how to do that. First though, I want to tell you that you most likely have a Nintendo Super NES Emulator (SNES9X) installed on your drive, that is messing up the proper files association that the setup installer for Serious Sam 4 GOG needs to see as a proper Disc Image File with the format known as .bin.

          So, to get the GOG setup installer to recognize the .bin files from 1 to 10 to be properly associated with the game installer, you need to Right-click on the first: setup_serious_sam_4_1.01_(64bit)_(41481)-1.bin

          and then go to Properties. From the General tab, click on the Change button. Under where it shows: Recommended Programs, look to see if either Daemon tools or a program like UltraISO Premium is listed there (if installed on your PC), if not listed there, and you have at least Daemon tools installed that can open and handle Disc Images like .bin file formats, then you will need to select it from the Recommended Programs list or click on the Browse button to navigate to the drive and folder of where the executable of Daemon tools is.

          Once you click on the executable for Daemon tools, it will appear in the box for File name:
          Next, click on the Open button, and the executable will appear in the Open with programs list.
          Now, just click on the box where it says: Always use the selected program to open this kind of file, and then click the OK button to save the changes and close the open window.

          The General tab from the Properties window will still be open, but now it should show you the proper program that should be associated to the file format type for .bin Disc image files as being Daemon tools. Confirm and verify this, and click on Apply to make the change a permanent one, and then click on the OK button to close the Properties window.

          You will need to repeat this process for the remaining .bin files from 2 to 10. Then, try installing to the same drive U: as you did before.

          If you still have any issues after this, let me know.

          Also, when I asked if your drive was an Internal Hard Disk Drive or an External one, you didn’t say. Please let me know which it is, so I can help you more.

        By the way currently my SSD main hard drive (C:) has about 17.4 GB space and that’s why I tired to install it to my another HDD drive. I tried it with another GOG game to my HDD (U:) and pushed F5 refresh button several times on Windows Explorer for test purpose while it’s installing, and I noticed the space of my C: drive actually were changing despite of I located to install it to my U: drive. Many GOG games are not high volume games, probably that’s why I or you haven’t noticed it until now as this game requires 39.3 GB space that’s very rarely seen from GOG games? I’m not sure whether GOG games actually uses C: space while installing no matter where I locate it to install, I don’t know, but that’s my guess now.

          Sep 26, 2020 @ 00:43

          @kof1981,

          Whether you have a HDD drive or a SSD drive and they both happen to be internal drives, does not really matter, the only differences are within the transfer speed data rates, and the technology that is used to deliver and move (transfer data from one drive to another).

          So, for example an SSD (Solid State Drive) will be at least 10x times faster in data transfer rate because of the onboard cell technology that it uses, while an HDD (Hard Disk Drive) would be much slower with data transfer rates because the magnetic disc platters inside of the drive need time to spin as it processes the data that it will transfer.

          Pressing F5 while installing the game to one of your drives, whether it’s on the HDD drive or the SSD drive will make little to no difference.

          The sound reasoning behind this is that whenever you install something to a drive that has enough sufficient space or very little space to fill from something like a game or a program, the actual clusters, or remaining cells on the drive (when using an SSD drive) will start to fill up and become cluttered, and the more stuff that is currently on that drive will be moved around to make free space for available disk sectors (for HDD) or cell space (for SSD).

          Overtime, as you begin to add more and more games and programs and whatever else to your drive, gradually you begin to lose more of that available space on your drives, and it begins to become cluttered, and the only way to free up more space is if you do a routine week-to-week disk clean up by removing stuff you don’t really need or use any more, or by doing a complete Disk Defragmentation of your drives on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis as much as possible, or whenever needed.

          Think of it like a File Cabinet. The more files, and folders that you add to that File Cabinet, the more it starts to become over cluttered, and if you don’t have enough space to keep all those documents in there, then that space is going to fill up pretty fast.
          But, if you take out or remove some of the stuff you don’t really need, then you have much more space and flexibility to work with.

          Something else I wanted to ask you was if you may have noticed any strange or weird noises coming from your drives. If you happen to hear a rattling, a grinding, or a low to high pitched noise that sounds almost like an engine motor, then you should be concerned as it means that one of your drives is about to fail, and should be replaced as soon as possible.

          Overall, maintaining your drives, doing a routine disk cleanup and Defrag of your drives, as well as running a disk diagnostics for the health and performance of all your drives will ensure proper maintenance and keep your hardware in good working order.

    Ok.. this game installed FINE but it took FOREVER to install on my TOSHIBA x300 HDD

    on DX12 i can get every gfx setting on max ( ULTRA setting or HIGH setting on same cases) @ 2560x1440p resolution
    and THERE ARE a LOT of advanced graphic settings on this game you can tweak.. A LOT!

    have a GTX 1080Ti + 32GB DDR4 RAM + i7-8700 cpu on W10 pro 64-bit ( latest crappy 2004 update)

    BUT THERE IS A MAJOR problem with this game… flickering light to dark textures from the start (or whatever… lots of flickering on walls and pillars … etc…)
    dunno why it happens… read somewhere on the web the game has LOTS of BUG.. so.. it needs patches!!

    it RUINED EXPERIENCE the game for me… its a shame the actual state of this game…given the popularity of this franchise
    it still needs more work… A LOT MORE WORK!

    and MOST IMPORTANTLY thanks to SKIDROW and CODEX for this one!

      @kof1981 J’ai la solution de ton problème(qui était le mien aussi…) Il faut pour cela changer tes variables d’environnement system qui par défaut pointent vers c:\
      Il faut simplement que tu donnes un nouveau répertoire de destination pour tes variable “TEMP” et “TMP” et le tour est joué.

    @kof1981 , @tekmarvl , The GOG installer seems to use C partition no matter what for unarchiving the game as temp, before it moves it to the desired location of install. I have 3 hard drives on my PC, but no matter to which one i try to install the game ( all partitions except C have enough space on them to contain the installed game), the C drive is always getting full in the process of installing. Seems it is not avoidable and as long as you dont have enough space on C drive for all the temp files to be processed ( in my case i have only 15GBs free on my C drive and not available to free up more ) , the game is not possible for install 🙂

      Sep 26, 2020 @ 20:54

      @Samail,

      Thank you for your input and observation. Yes you are correct, and it was something that I was always aware of myself. If it is at all possible to at least free up more space on your Primary Drive C:\, which for most users would be where the main Windows OS is installed to as well, then try to remove some apps, programs, or any games you are no longer using or playing to free up some more disk space.

      Any sort of Windows based installer, whether it is for a program or a game that you are installing to another drive, will go through the process of installing temporary files on your Primary C:/ drive as it unpacks all the data files from the archived setup installation. So yes, you are going to need as much available space as possible for the installation to be successful, otherwise it will stop and fail, or revert back the process of the installation and give you an error saying that it couldn’t install to the drive you wanted to install to because of insufficient space.

      To give a good clear example, my Primary drive C:/ is 1 TB in size, in OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) terms, this translates to 931 GB. Currently I have 460 GB of free disk space available on the drive, with 471 GB of space used, which is taken up by my Windows OS, as well as some Programs and minor Games that I have installed to it, which are not really space hogging.

      I also have 5 HDD Drives, two of which are internal, my primary C:/ drive, and my secondary drive D:/ with are both 1 TB each. Then I have 3 external USB drives, with the largest being 5 TB which I install most of the larger sized games I have and play from, and then I have a 2 TB which I use to store data, music, movies, and some minor sized games on, and then there is my external USB 1 TB drive which I also use to store data on.

      In addition to what I have previously mentioned before about disk space saving, and freeing up additional space, every Windows OS has built-in tools and utilities you can freely use, like Disk Cleanup to free up additional space on your Primary drive, as well as additional ones you may have.
      If you happen to use Windows System Restore for backup and recovery, and you have it turned on your Primary C:\ drive, your drive will automatically start to fill up with the most recent disk image backup of your entire Windows OS and everything that you have on it. If you want to minimize what is allowed to be backed up for System Restore or completely turn it off on your Primary C:\ drive, go to the following location:
      Control Panel\System and Security\System

      Go to Advanced system settings. In System Properties, click on the System Protection tab. In the list of Available drives shown on your system, select the drive that has your main Windows OS on it, usually Primary Drive C:/
      Then, click on the Configure button.
      In the next window you have three options you can set which are self explanatory. Near towards the bottom you can adjust the size of disk space to be used. Continue..

    • img
      Sep 26, 2020 @ 21:37

      @Samail,

      Continued from my first post to you in reply: The minimum size you can use when adjusting the disk space to use for Windows System Restore to make a backup disk image on your C:/ drive is at 1% of your disk space used which is at 9.32 GB. If you want to keep Windows System Restore enabled and turned on, it would be ideal if you do not increase the size any more than the available space that you have currently on your drive, and that means keeping it at the smallest usable space on the C:/ drive you can use, without running out of space.

      Even if you have an internal HDD that is at least 1 TB in size, I would only recommend using about half the size of the drive or less. 500 GB would be ideal in this case if you have a lot of programs and games, and would like Windows System Restore to make regular or weekly backup images of your drive. However, you can also set it to the lowest possible size achievable at just 1% usage on the drive so it only backs up what you want it to backup.

      You even have the option of turning off Windows System Restore entirely so that non of your valuable HDD space on your Primary C:/ drive will be eaten up by the number of disk images that System Restore will make. The option is there to turn it off by simply clicking on: Turn off system protection and then clicking on the Apply button, and then the OK button.

      From the System Protection window, you can also Delete any previous backup images you feel that you may not need, as Windows System Restore will automatically make disk image backups according to how you have set it up, whether it is daily, weekly, or monthly, it will be timestamped with the date, and the most recent backup will be there as well, so any prior backup disk images that were made can be selected and deleted, but you should always keep the most current and recent one available if you wish to restore your Windows to a Prior State before any changes were made to your System.

      If you feel confident and safe with the operation of your own PC, and you feel that making backup images of your OS and the Programs you have on it, is not something you want Windows System Restore to do, then you can disable it and turn it completely off to save on your valuable disk space as I had mentioned earlier above.
      You can then if you wish, use any good third party program with Windows to Ghost Drive your Primary C:/ drive with your main OS and everything you have on it for backup and restore any time you want to, thus saving your disk space in the process.

      It would also be advisable for you to at least use Windows Defragmentation on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis, as this too, can help with moving and freeing up disk clusters to free up more space on your drive, and can greatly help to improve data access and transfer rate on your Primary Drive C:/.

      Looking into investing in a 1 TB drive you could swap with your existing internal drive, so that you have more drive space to work with would be good.

      You need to change temporary folder location to another drive where you got enough free space(40 gigs like)
      google the internet
      “how to change windows temp folder”
      Then you can do change it back after you’re done. GL HF!
      This works 100%.

        Sep 26, 2020 @ 23:27

        @Haloooo726,

        Yes, you are right and you could do it that way too, to get the game to install to the drive and location that you want it to.

        For some people it may not be as easy of a task as it looks and sounds, and it involves having to create a System Restore point first, and if someone does not know how to do that, or if Windows System Restore point isn’t enabled, they would have to know how to enable it first on their drive in order to use it.

        Let’s say they do know how to enable or create a System Restore point, even then after having changed the original location of the Temp folder in Windows, that very same person would have to remember or know how to change it back, especially if they hope or wish to ever install anything on their Primary C:/ drive.

        Although I find your post both informative and helpful to those who may think the same, it is just much more simple to uninstall, remove, and use the built-in tools and utilities that are already in Windows like Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmentation to help with cleaning up and freeing up the clutter created by having too many things installed on a drive that gradually over time eats up disk space.

        You can even turn off System Restore completely, so that you can reserve that valuable disk space that would otherwise be taken up by Shadow Images (Backup Disk Images) created by System Restore if it was turned on for the Primary C:/ drive.

      @kof1981,

      Glad you got it to work for you using the method of changing the Windows Temp folder to another drive location. Just don’t forget, that if you ever want to install something to your Primary Hard Drive C:, that you will need to change it back, otherwise you are going to have problems.

    Reviews says this is horribly optimized and better wait for an updated version.
