This comes a bit late, thus with some hindsight.
Most likely it was due to Rising already being in the works by Cygames since they were trying to bring out one with the rollback netcode. Along with a bit of graphical and maybe gameplay update iirc. So it was pretty obvious that they would put the brakes on the any planned character updates/passes during that time and simply migrate them to the new shinier stage.

Therefore, besides playing this to see what exactly is different between the two games, like what I’m doing (and personally using this as a newbie springboard before moving to Rising), there’s really honestly no point to playing this anymore. It’s better to move to higher ground. There’s like barely any mods for this game in the first place. And now with Rising out and you can’t simply migrate/swap mods between the two games, people just simply jumped ship to Rising. Now the modding scene for this vanilla game is absolutely DEAD. And I’m sure the legit games’ servers are gonna soon kick out this vanilla game too.

Thus is the typical fate of any titles/series that have expansions/successors.

@V This comes late and thus with some hindsight. It was most likely due to Cygames already had planned to make Rising during that time, in order to implement that rollback netcode, along with a bit of graphical/gameplay update. So obviously, they pretty much immediately started to scale back projects/plans for this vanilla game and start migrating everything to Rising instead. Fate of any titles/series if they have expansions/successors. So in all honesty, besides trying it out as a vanilla game and see if there’s any noticeable differences between beyond the netcode and slight graphic update, there’s really no point in playing this game. I only am playing it in order to find the differences and also start off from the beginning since I’m a newb to this. But once I beat/master this game, I’m gonna have to migrate to Rising like everyone else. Hell, there’s barely any mods for this in the first place and any new productions of mods have practically stopped in favor of Rising, esp since you can’t simply cross migrate/transfer mods between the two. Everyone is just making mods for Rising now (although even that’s slowing down a bit right now thanks to Relink coming out pretty recently and that title is selling out like hotcakes, thus practically a lot of people are jumping ship to that….)
