State of Decay 2 Juggernaut Edition Update 20-P2P

State of Decay 2 Juggernaut Edition Update 20-P2P
Sep
18

State of Decay 2 is an open-world survival-fantasy game set just after the zombie apocalypse. Your small community of survivors seeks to rebuild a corner of civilization, and you get to make all the decisions about how that happens.

You decide who to recruit to your team, where to settle your community, how to fortify and upgrade your base, and when it’s time to move to greener pastures. You select which survivor to bring along on a scavenging run for the food and ammo you need, and who you’ll use to fight off the zombies attacking your base. You choose how you’ll deal with other people who move into your town. Will you be friendly and welcoming… or will you aggressively defend your territory?

Every player’s experience in the sandbox is unique. Each character in your community has their own special set of skills and traits, so no two communities are ever the same. The challenges you face also vary from game to game, based on who you recruit and the decisions you make along the way.

With co-op multiplayer support, you can visit your friends’ communities and help them through a tough spot, bringing back rewards for your own communities later. Alternate game modes include a full 10-hour narrative campaign and a four-player zombie-slaughtering "siege defense" mode.

Undead Labs is proud to present our best-ever vision of the zombie apocalypse. Keep your eyes peeled and your weapons ready. This is one apocalypse you won’t want to miss.

What is the “sfv” folder for?

    • img
      Sep 19, 2020 @ 00:26

      @John15,

The SFV folder has a CRC32 File, otherwise known as an SFV (System File Verification) and is used specifically to check the contents and file integrity of all the files that were packed into the archive that was created before it’s contents are extracted. During the process of extracting the contents from an archived file container, your extraction program will check to see if any of those files are missing or corrupt, and if anything is wrong with the contents of the files or is missing, progress will stop and you will be shown which of those files has an issue.

It is then up to you to decide whether you want to try to repair and rebuild the archive and it’s contents with your extraction program (providing that it has a built-in repair tool), or you can choose to download the entire archive again from another source if one is available that has all the contents of the files intact.

And that is what an SFV file is. It is auto-generated sometimes by the person who originally put the archive together during it’s creation and packaging the contents of the data files inside of it.

      @Ninja,

::: THE CORRECT WAY TO APPLY UPDATE 20 :::

Here is the correct way to apply Update 20 for State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition:

      1) Before you do anything, make sure that you have all the previous updates already applied to the base (main) game. This means all prior updates from 15.1 to Update 19. You need these before you even apply Update 20.

      2) Once you have extracted the contents from the file archive for Update 20, open up the UPDATE 20 folder, and then open the following folders:
      Crack\CODEX\Engine\Binaries\ThirdParty\Steamworks\Steamv148\Win64

From the Win64 folder, select and copy the following files:
      steam_api64
      steam_api64.dll
      steam_emu

      3) Now, go to the drive and directory folder where the game was installed to, which will be represented by your drive’s letter along with the following game directory:
(Your Drive and Drive Letter):\State of Decay 2 Juggernaut Edition

From the State of Decay 2 Juggernaut Edition game folder on your drive, open the following folders:
      Engine\Binaries\ThirdParty\Steamworks\Steamv148\Win64

Paste the files that you had copied from the UPDATE 20 folder from Step 2, into the Win64 folder. If you are asked to replace any existing files there, choose Yes, OK, or the Copy and Replace option to overwrite the files with the new ones.

      4) Go back to the UPDATE 20 folder, and open the following folders:
      Crack\CODEX\StateOfDecay2\Binaries\Win64

From the Win64 folder, select and copy the following files:
      codex64.dll
      StateOfDecay2-Win64-Shipping.cdx
      StateOfDecay2-Win64-Shipping.exe
      vcruntime140.cdx
      vcruntime140.dll

      5) Now, go to the drive and directory where the game was installed to, and open the following folders there:
      StateOfDecay2\Binaries\Win64

In the Win64 folder, paste the files that you had copied from Step 4. Copy and Replace any existing files there, overwritting the old ones with the new ones.

      6) Temporarily turn off or disable any running Anti-virus program you have, or Windows Defender, as the following step won’t work correctly if you have it enabled and running.

Once you have temporarily turned off or disabled your Anti-virus or Windows Defender, go back to the UPDATE 20 folder, and open the following folder:
      Update

From the Update folder, select and copy the following files:
      lista_updfil.txt
      lista_updir.txt
      patch.exe
      State_of_Decay_2_Update_20.bat
      update.exe
      xdelta3-x86.exe

      7) Now go back to the drive where the game was installed to, and paste all the files from Step 6, into the main State of Decay 2 Juggernaut Edition (directory folder).

Inside of the State of Decay 2 Juggernaut Edition (directory folder), double-click on State_of_Decay_2_Update_20.bat to run the Windows Batch file that will start applying the Update 20 patch to the base game inside of a DOS prompt command like window where you will see the progress. Let it do it’s thing, and don’t close the window.

Once you get the message that the Patch was successfully applied, press any key to close the CMD prompt window.

I’m fairly experienced with modding games and following technical guides very closely and once I install update 20 the game won’t open when I click the exe. When I roll it back it seems to work fine. I followed the advice of someone who commented to run the batch file as ADMIN, should I NOT do that?

What is update 20 anyway, is it important?

          Sep 25, 2020 @ 02:25

          @GorkenSnark,

To answer the first question you asked about running the Windows Batch file for Update 20 in Administrator mode, that was only a suggestion that one Guest had made, and it only applies if you do not have full Administrator privileges in the Windows OS that you are running on your PC. You will know whether or not you have it, if you are prompted by Windows to allow or deny permission to any running executable or program that is New, that Windows itself doesn’t immediately recognize.

This is a feature of all Windows OS from 7 to 10 for security and protection reasons, which can be turned off, or which you can override yourself by running the executable in Administrator mode, or granting permissions to the executable you want to run by giving it full Administrator rights without limitation.

And, to answer your second question where you asked, “When I re-apply the crack after running the batch file it seems to launch fine… but does re-applying the crack mess the update up?”

No, re-applying the crack should not mess the update up at all, given the fact that you had followed what I had posted in:
::: THE CORRECT WAY TO APPLY UPDATE 20 :::
          -and also in-
::: Confirmed and Working Solution for Update 20, Game Saves, and Crash Issues :::

If for some reason you happen to find some issues with the game or even being able to continue from a previous save, you can always rollback to the previous version Update 19, by running the State_of_Decay_2_Up_19-Rollback.exe from the ROLLBACK UPDATE 20 TO 19 folder.

As previously mentioned before, you need to copy all the files from the two primary folders here from the UPDATE 20 folder:
          Crack\CODEX\Engine\Binaries\ThirdParty\Steamworks\Steamv148\Win64
          -and-
          Crack\CODEX\StateOfDecay2\Binaries\Win64

You need to copy all the files from both directory folders, and then paste them into the same directory locations INSIDE OF THE MAIN GAME DIRECTORY.

After you have done that, you need to permanently delete the Steam folder from the following location:
          AppData\Local\StateOfDecay2\Saved

Your saved games from your previous game play before Updating to Update 20 are all stored in the SaveGames folder, so you don’t need to worry about losing any of your Saves.

      Sep 20, 2020 @ 01:38

      @Lucky_13,

I have a suggestion that may work for you, which from my own experience has worked for me whenever I updated the game to a newer version.
Since the game edition itself, and all prior and current updates have been released by CODEX, and this is the STEAM version of the game, all your current game saves are going to be created in one central location.
That location is going to be the following:
      C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Local\StateOfDecay2\Saved

Now what you are going to need to do to get to that special directory where your game saves are stored for the game, is hold down the Windows Flag key and the letter R on your PC keyboard at the same time to bring up a Run command like window. NOTE: If you have a slightly different PC keyboard layout, the Windows Flag key may be simply represented as Win. or Windows. If that is the case, then hold down the Win. or Windows key and the letter R key at the same time.

Once you have the Run command window open, type the following into it:
      %appdata%
      Then press the OK button.

At the very top of the address bar for the open directory you are now viewing, click on AppData.
Double-click the Local folder to open it.
Look for and double-click on the following folder to open it:
      StateOfDecay2

From the StateOfDecay2 folder, double-click on Saved to open it.

Here is where you will need to make a backup of two very important folders that are inside of the Saved folder.
Before we get to that part, first create two new folders on your Windows Desktop so that you can get to it easily when you need to.
The two new folders you will be making will be called Original Save Backup, and STEAM Save Backup.
Once you have created and named those two new folders on your Windows Desktop, go back to the following directory and filepath:
      C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Local\StateOfDecay2\Saved

From inside of the Saved folder, first copy the folder: SaveGames and paste it into the Original Save Backup folder you created earlier on your Windows Desktop.
Now, once again, go back to the location:
      C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Local\StateOfDecay2\Saved

From the Saved folder, copy the folder: Steam and paste it into the STEAM Save Backup folder you created earlier on your Windows Desktop.
If the Steam folder isn’t present in the Saved folder, don’t worry about it for now, we will get to that part later.

Once more, go back to the following location:
      C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Local\StateOfDecay2\Saved

You can now permanently delete the Steam folder if it is there, otherwise just leave everything as is without doing anything further. Close the open directory you have open, and go into your game to load the last save point you made when playing the Heartland DLC.

If you can successfully load the game, then the issue is related to the Steam (save game) folder that has the same numbered folders as what is inside of your original SaveGames folder, and a conflict is created where the game doesn’t know which saves to use.

      See next post

    Sep 20, 2020 @ 02:23

    @Lucky_13,

::: Continued from my previous post about Game Saves :::

If you aren’t able to load your save from the Heartland DLC after you have launched the game, then exit to the main game menu, and then completely exit out of the game so you are back at the Windows Desktop.

Go to the following directory and file location:
    C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Local\StateOfDecay2\Saved

To get to this directory and file location, simply follow the method I mentioned in my previous post to get to it.

Permanently delete the SaveGames folder you see there.

If there was originally a Steam folder there, leave it, exit from the open directory and file location you have open, and launch the game. Go load up your save for the Heartland DLC, and see if the game will load it successfully. If it fails to load, then you will need to exit back to the game menu and out of the game completely back to the Windows Desktop.

If on the off chance that it does load successfully, then the issue is related to the original game saves that were created in the SaveGames folder, and only the saves from the Steam folder should be used to continue from the last save point made when you had been playing through the Heartland DLC.

    IMPORTANT NOTE:
If you didn’t have a Steam folder to begin with in the location:
    C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Local\StateOfDecay2\Saved

You will need to go back to that directory and file location, and then create a New folder with the name: Steam

Double-click on the Steam folder to open it, and then create another New folder with the exact numbers as shown here:
    76561197960267366

Double-click on the 76561197960267366 folder to open it.

Now minimize the window of the directory folder you are viewing so you can see your Windows Desktop.
Go into the folder on your Windows Desktop named: Original Save Backup
Open the folder inside named: SaveGames
    Copy the folder named: 8877665544332222

Maximize the window for the directory folder: 76561197960267366 from the location: C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Local\StateOfDecay2\Saved\Steam\76561197960267366

Paste the folder named: 8877665544332222 into the folder: 76561197960267366

Once you have done that, close the current directory you are viewing so that you are back at the Windows Desktop.

Now go and launch the game, and load your save from the Heartland DLC.

Your game should now launch using the correct saves for the Steam version of the game as intended, and you shouldn’t have any further crashing issues.

::: Confirmed and Working Solution for Update 20, Game Saves, and Crash Issues :::

If anyone is having any crash related issues after updating the game to the current Update 20, it is most likely due to a save game conflict. Here is a quick run down of what you can do to fix that, so that you can continue your game from where you last left off:

    1) Make sure you have all the prior Updates from 15.1 to 19 already applied to the base (main) game.

    2) Read my post on how to apply Update 20 the correct way.

    3) Using your PC keyboard, press the Windows Flag key and the letter R key together to bring up the Run command like window (on some older PC keyboards this will be the Win. or Windows key with the letter R key), and type the following into it:
    %appdata%
    Then, click the OK button.
From the folder you now have open, at the top of the address bar, click on AppData, open the Local folder, then look for and open the folder: StateOfDecay2
    Now, open the folder: Saved
From inside the Saved folder, permanently delete the Steam folder.
Close the current directory you are viewing so that you are back at the Windows Desktop.

    4) Go to the drive and location of where the game was installed to, it should look like the following:
(Your Drive and Drive Letter):\State of Decay 2 Juggernaut Edition

Now, open the following folders from the main game directory:
    Engine\Binaries\ThirdParty\Steamworks\Steamv148\Win64

From the Win64 folder, you should have the following 3 items listed and it should total 614 kb in size:
    steam_api64
    steam_api64.dll
    steam_emu

If those 3 items are not listed in the Win64 folder, you will need to copy them from the following location from the UPDATE 20 folder:
    UPDATE 20\Crack\CODEX\Engine\Binaries\ThirdParty\Steamworks\Steamv148\Win64

-and then paste those 3 items into the following location:
State of Decay 2 Juggernaut Edition\Engine\Binaries\ThirdParty\Steamworks\Steamv148\Win64

    5) Now, go to the following location:
State of Decay 2 Juggernaut Edition\StateOfDecay2\Binaries\Win64

Inside of the Win64 folder, look for and confirm that the following 5 items are there and that they total a size of 160 MB:
    codex64.dll
    StateOfDecay2-Win64-Shipping.cdx
    StateOfDecay2-Win64-Shipping.exe
    vcruntime140.cdx
    vcruntime140.dll

Only the 5 items listed above should be present in the Win64 folder. No other extra files should be there. If the 5 items listed above are not present, then you will have to copy it all from the UPDATE 20 folder from the following location:
    UPDATE 20\Crack\CODEX\StateOfDecay2\Binaries\Win64

-and paste the 5 items into the following location:
State of Decay 2 Juggernaut Edition\StateOfDecay2\Binaries\Win64

    6) Close the current directory folder you have open so that you are back at the Windows Desktop.

Launch your game, and select the DLC you want to play, like Heartland for example, and select Continue to load your saved game. You should now be able to continue on from your last save point without any crash issues.

      Sep 24, 2020 @ 03:42

      @Kevin Macaspac,

The reason that the STEAM application keeps opening up instead of the actual game, is because you haven’t applied the Update 20 properly, and you also haven’t copied and pasted all the files from the the two primary folders here from the UPDATE 20 folder:

If you read these two posts I have made for solutions to using and applying Update 20, you shouldn’t have any issues:
::: THE CORRECT WAY TO APPLY UPDATE 20 :::
      -and-
::: Confirmed and Working Solution for Update 20, Game Saves, and Crash Issues :::

I don’t just go posting solutions to game related issues without testing and confirming that I have a working solution first. Whenever I experience similar issues to what someone reports about a game, or a problem with an Update for a game, I share what I know here, and if I have a working solution for it, I post it, so that others can apply that knowledge to help themselves out with their issues.

Plus, it can’t be all that difficult to follow and read instructions. If I could draw a visual picture I would, but I seem to have lost my Crayons.

      @Krakatoa,

As far as I know, only FitGirl Repacks has Multiplayer working for SOD2: Juggernaut Edition.

The official site and page for it can be found here:
      https://fitgirl-repacks.site/state-of-decay-2/

I will not post any torrent file or direct File Host links here for it, as you can easily find that yourself from the link above.

You may need to fill in whatever Updates are not included in the FitGirl repack, and since it is based off the CODEX release, you can use all the available Updates for it to bring your game up-to-date with the latest UPDATE 20 version.

Multiplayer works with legit users if you use a legit Xbox Live account, otherwise it is better to create a fake one, but if you want to use the Online Crack Fix for Multiplayer in the NoDVD folder after installation of the game, then the other person has to have the same identical version of the game that you do with the Online Crack Fix for Multiplayer.

why was it not possible to program self-executing patch files for 20 and 21, just as for 15-19?

      @jebediah,

Glad you were able to work it out for yourself.

For future reference, make sure that you are running in Administrator Mode on your PC, and that when applying Patches to games, in the same sense as you would apply a crack, temporarily disable or turn off your AV or Windows Defender, or restart your PC in Windows Safe Mode without Networking, and then apply the Patches. When done, restart your PC again, and boot back into Windows normally.
